Cliffy Byro – Only Revolutions

Oh, where have I been, to not have heard of Cliffy Byro? Three Glaswegians who have been doing their unique brand of smart, melodic rock since 1995. They certainly aren’t unknown. Their last LP Puzzle reached a dizzying No. 2 in the UK Albums Chart and was voted best album of 2007 by Kerrang! and Rock Sound. (Thank you, Wikipedia!)

It’s been a while since any album has been on such heavy rotation on my iPod. I found myself taking unnecessarily long drives just so I could listen to more of Only Revolutions, with its atypical time signatures and sometimes funny lyrics.

Sometimes rock can get a bit over the top, but man, when it’s done right, there is no better.
